Yes, its happening again. I had the transmission rebuilt 3 years ago because the sun gear snapped and I lost overdrive.

Symptoms:
The transmission still shifts solid until 3rd to overdrive. Disengages 3rd clean and then never really drops all the way into overdrive. The car is still responsive but the RPM's are way too high for the speed.

Troubleshooting:
So far I reset the computer and topped off the transmission fluid. but no change.
Next I plan on having the transmission flushed. A nice reverse flush even. I know its like getting a root canal through the nasal passages but if it doesn't fix it the transmissions coming out anyway.

Turns out I'm the idiot, but thats nothing new. The problem with overdrive was caused by the torque convertor not locking. When I adjusted the brake booster I negelected to adjust the brake light/cruise control/torque convertor lockup sensor that is controlled by the brake pedal. A simple adjustment to make sure the plungers are fully actuated with the pedal at rest solved the transmission problem. I took the round about way to get here by taking it to Cottman transmissions. I never let anybody work on my car but me, so this was a big step. All I wanted was the electronic diagnostic they offer for free. They discovered that the tcc controls were not sending the correct commands and figured it for "major electrical problems". Once I discovered that the switch for that is located at the brake pedal I put it all together. Cost me not a dime. I have to say I was impressed with the manager and really felt confortable with him working on my car but not the guy smoking a cigarrete while he was head first in a minivan on the rack. lol. Think I'll update my post on the brake booster replacement now.
